Voila!

I have become a fan of the Food Network lately. I don't know what it is about watching someone cook but it just makes me happy. I don't know if it relaxes me, or if it inspires me, I'm not sure. Maybe it's just my obsession for food being manifest in another form. In any event, I watch that channel. And I like it.

So the other day, I'm watching someone make a dessert or something, and she says, "WaLa!" Right. I know she meant "Voila!" but it disturbed me that this woman is a professional chef and says it all wrong. And then, a few days later, I heard it again! From a different person! I was dying. So, just so you all know, you do pronounce the V like a V. V-o-ahhh-laaa. No W's. It's a dumb thing to have a beef about, I know. But twice! On the Food Network!

Was it Paula Dean? ;)

"It's a dumb thing to have a beef about" (emphasis added) I think that is your funniest comment about the Food Channel.

It was actually Sandra Lee, although I wouldn't put it past Paula Dean. The other lady I just realized wasn't on the food network, she was on PBS, and I don't know her name but I call her the Relief Society President, she's so Mormon. Paula Dean bugs.

Oh the semi-homemade cooking blonde lady? I don't like her much... You no like Paula??? Oh she's so cute! Next year when we go down to SC for my brother's wedding, Ben and I are going to go to Savannah, GA (about 20 minutes away)to go eat at her restaurant. I just get such a kick out of her, she's hillarious! Now, my favorite though is Alton Brown from Good Eats, he's our hero. We watch AB every day!

There is just something about Paula Dean that bugs me, I don't know what it is. And I don't really love the food she makes either. At least I haven't liked anything I've seen, I could be missing out. Maybe it's the southern diet that I just don't like.

1: Shanny's favorite seems to be Rachel, Ray.
2: This is the 6th comment, all off of a rant about "WaLa". It reminds me of when I set the world on fire with my double heel/butt sandwich. You just never know which post will set all sorts of comments while others languish in obscurity.
