Alright, friends. As it turns out, we're having a baby in 8 weeks max (could be as soon as 4 weeks, how weird is that?), and so we're trying to get everything ready for her arrival. So I need advice. And I've decided that the only way to get everyone to respond to my call for advice is to create a poll - it's fun, it's fast, it's easy, and it's anonymous! So cast your vote today!
Today's poll is this: Should we get a swing or a bouncer? As you can tell from the links, I've found a bouncer that I like, but I don't really know about the swings. Personally, I'm more partial to the idea of a bouncer, simply because it's cheaper. But some people might think it just doesn't do the job. So let me know your thoughts. Also, if you have any advice on what type of swing is best, let me know in the comments section. Thanks!

Well, Adie didn't ever like her swing, but I know a ton of babies do. We didn't have a bouncer, but I wish we had since Brett got to be her bouncer many nights. I am not sure it's an easy call because you just don't know what your child will like. I am not positive, but I think your baby will grow out of the bouncer sooner than the swing, so that's something to consider. My vote would be to see if you can borrow one of each when she's born and see what she likes, then purchase. I would have sent you home with our swing the last time you were up if I had thought about it. However, they are probably people down south who would be happy to lend you what they have.
I voted for both. I got more use out of the swing, we had tiny babies that liked to swing until they were like 9 months old. But, our swing didn't recline back far enough for me to put the babies in when they were super tiny. That is when the bouncer came in handy. Also, the bouncer is very portable (mine spent a lot of time in the bathroom so I could grab a quick shower or do my hair) and the vibrate feature is a life saver. We didn't have a bouncer for Michael, and we would put him on the dryer in his car seat to get that good vibrating/car feeling in the middle of the night. Bottom line, you'll probably use the swing longer, but the bouncer is sooo great those first few months. You might want to get the bouncer now, and the swing when she is month or two and you can try her in it.
Swing all the way. But make sure it's one that allows the baby to be turned sideways as well as forwards.
PS. Bouncing = Puking (you'll get enough of that from burping).
i need a new swing too...so if you hear of any good ones let me know.
Hey! I voted. I cant' believe how close it is getting. Did Steve and Christy help get the crib all set up? I want to see pictures. We only had a swing for hailey. She loved her swing but sometimes I wished i had one more differnet thing to put her in then the same thing. The bouncers are nice cause they vibrate and the swinging is a different motions. I guess if money is no question get both! Hope you are doing well.
Well, I obviously have no real personal experience with this, but for what it's worth, I have babysat lots of nephews and friends' babies and this is what I've learned from that: Swings worked significantly better for calming fussy babies and lulling them to sleep when nothing else worked. The bouncer worked well when they were already content, but it's never worked for me when they were already worked up about something. However, bouncers are quite a bit more portable, so it works when you take baby places... whereas the big buly swing, not so much. I think Sabrina made a valid point, if you can "borrow" one of each until you can figure out what Wombsly likes better, then great! If not... maybe you can check out some consignment sales? My SIL got her swing for a very reasonable price at one of those and it was in great condition! It has been a lifesaver with Brandon, and probably would have made life a lot easier with Jackson... which is why they made sure to have one the 2nd time around!
Oh definately a swing! Trust me! Don't you remember when we were roomates and I knew everything? Well, I still do... and you NEED a swing! And yes I just yelled "need".
Love, Katie
