Weekly Quote 7/2/07

"It was 100° as we sat beneath a willow tree, whose tears didn't care, they just hung in the air and refused to fall." That is from the song "Crooked Teeth" by Death Cab For Cutie. Sabrina, don't tell me that you can't remember the words to songs, because that would be a flat out lie. We've just branched out from movies. :)

New quote up!

"...Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink."
I may not be able to come up with Death Cab for Cutie, but I know Coleridge when I read it. This quote is from the Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. If it came from a movie or song, they stole it from Sam.

It just occured to me that there is a theme here - the weekly quotes have to be inspired by St. George in the summer! Good call. Just drove through on my way home and the quotes are spot on.

You'd actually be surprised about how many songs I don't know the words to. I don't even know the words to some of my favorite songs. I kind of don't pay attention to them. The whole song has me fixated I guess. In fact, a little while ago, we were listening to "Champagne Supernova" and Brett made a comment about how the song talked about drugs. I had to question why he thought that. He then pointed out the lyrics "Where were you while we were getting high?" Sure, I'd listened to and sung those words a ton of times, but they had never sunk in.
