EHS

My 10 year high school reunion is next month.

Part of me really wants to go, part of me really doesn't. We'll be in SLC the week before for Suzanne's wedding, so the thought of driving up 2 weeks in a row isn't very appealing. I still have no idea what we are actually DOING for this thing, or what the cost will be. And it's on my birthday.

Should I go? If you went to high school with me, are you going?

Well, it's a super inconvenient time for me ;) so we won't be going up. It's always intriguing, but the last was...um...underwhelming. I am not sure, even our baby wasn't due right around then, that I would try to go up. I also might add that I think it's lame that they are only disseminating info via Facebook and then telling people to spread the word. As amazing as it is, not everyone is on Facebook and not everyone still lives in the Wasatch Front or is still in contact with people from high school. However, maybe they'd want to come. I think maybe a little more effort to find people would be appropriate, but that's just me.

I know for me and my ten year, the real reason to go is may be find some people I've been wanting to see. Also, I'd be going with a group of friends from High School I'm still close with, so it's fun to hang out with them. I figure why not? Only have the ten year once, and then after that, it's only every ten years. Not sure if I'll even make mine with the babies comin, but I hope to! It's as fun as you make it. Oh, and I updated my thoughts from your comment right after it on the confederate flag..just go back to the crib blog i did :)

Mine was a couple of years ago and I didn't go. I still keep in touch with all of my close HS friends and we all kind of decided to skip it. They were having hotdogs at the park or something equally lame (we were almost 30, a nice dinner would have been more appropriate). Plus, they only spread the word via email (this was pre-facebook-phenomenon). I don't mean to sound totally anti-reunion, I'm sure it was fun so maybe I'll go to the next one! :)
P.S. I should mention that I had a HUGE prego belly at the time so maybe that influenced my decision, lol.

If I had gone to HS with you, I'd be going. Maybe that wasn't what you were looking for with your question. =)

Uh...I thought about it. Sorta. Honestly though, everyone I care about from highschool I kept in touch with. Why waste a day going to a reunion? It could also be that I absolutely hated High School, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me. :)

I went last year. It was fun, but expensive. To be honest, the best part of the whole reunion process was finding a lot of my old friends on facebook. There was like this facebook explosion. But the event itself was way too short and structured to make me feel like I was catching up with people. On the other hand, I don't buy the whole, "I keep in touch with all the friends I want to keep in touch with" argument. There were dozens of people I didn't really want to see, but there were also dozens of people I had totally forgotten about, and with whom I had normal, stimulating conversations. If you do go, leave the spouse at home. Michelle HATED being there. And a lot of people brought their spouses to sort of parade around. That was annoying.

My sister's 25 year reunion is this fall. What are they doing? A 3-day cruise.

Fun!

Except they are too poor to go! (They graduated in the same class)

Oh, and who is in charge of planning the reunion? The person with the fantastic idea for the cruise?

She's a travel agent. And you can probably bet she's getting commission!
